How do I look ? Do I look perfect ? Yes, I saw many children (even a baby !) among grown-ups as performers at Mount Hagen Festival. The little kids were also strong warriors representing their tribes with fabulous costumes. The boy was almost ready to perform with the hand-made costume, but he needed assistance from his mother for make-up. I don't think he applies make-up daily, but it was a special day that happens only once a year. The make-up had to be perfect. Do you like face painting ? The painted warriors are not only grown-ups, but children also perform. Every tribe showcases their traditional clothing, dances and make-ups. Everybody looks so excited and so proud of their own tribe. After I witnessed the sing-sing groups from all over the country in an amazing conglomeration of color, beauty and culture for 2 days, I am confident that their cultures remain unchanged up to the 21st century.
