This work, centering on the theme of “Time Travelers”, captures profound imagery of time, fate, and exploration through a winding tunnel. In this photograph, the curves of the tunnel and the repetitive lights above create a strong visual guide, and draw the viewer’s gaze towards the deep distance, symbolizing the uncertainty of the journey and the guidance of fate. The exquisite interplay of light and shadow not only represents the passage of time, but also blurs the boundary between reality and dreams. The absence of vehicles or pedestrians allows viewers to focus entirely on this path leading to the unknown, experiencing the intertwining of destiny and choice. In terms of composition, the work employs central perspective, with its tunnel’s curves and light layout naturally extending the viewer’s sight into the depths, giving a strong sense of depth and direction. Symmetrically arranged lights emphasize rhythm and create an illusion of infinite extension, symbolizing the endless flow of time. As for light and shadow, high-contrast lighting settings and wall reflections work together to produce a fractured, flowing visual effect, adding stunning dynamic vitality. Additionally, the work was shot using the Kodak 400TX (Tri-X 400) black-and-white film, whose unique silver grain texture and high contrast add a rugged and simple aesthetic, further enhancing the nostalgic and time-worn atmosphere. The monochrome tone not only highlights the loneliness and mystery, but also deeply extends and interprets the theme and emotion of the work, infusing it with a distinctive narrative power and emotional resonance.
