Light and shadows dance on the stage of my mind as, inspired by the genius of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, I decided to pay homage to one of his most celebrated masterpieces: The Supper at Emmaus. This work, which depicts a pivotal moment when the disciples recognize the risen Jesus, is imbued with emotion and unparalleled visual power, characteristics I sought to capture in my photograph. In composing the image, I wanted to reflect the drama of the moment. Lighting, as in the original painting, plays a fundamental role. I used warm light sources to create a captivating contrast between the faces of the protagonists and the dark background. Every detail was carefully studied: the astonished expressions of the disciples, the almost sacred gesture of Jesus as he blesses the bread—everything was designed to evoke the emotional tension that only Caravaggio could convey.
