Old Pier 1 view of the skyline at blue hour This was an image that I had planned in the weeks leading ups to my trip over the pond to visit New York for the first time ever. For some reason, the foreground was so unique to my eyes (although being a frequently taken image by many), and the skyline never ceases to enthral. I went to the same area the night before and took some images and they were "okay" but missed something and it wasn't until I had had a night to sleep on it. It suddenly dawned on me that a longer exposure was needed and so I looked at the weather and that same night seemed to be the only option, the same night that my gorgeous wife and daughter were arriving to join me. Sounds simple but jet lag from a transatlantic flight, a subway ride at Saturday rush hour and culture shock wasn't helping my heroes during the journey to Old Pier 1. However, they graciously endured my enthusiasm for getting "the" image and so it holds pride of place in my personal New York gallery as being "our" image
