In 2020, the world faced an event unseen for generations: the COVID-19 pandemic. Alongside the fear and isolation came empty shelves and food scarcities that reshaped daily life. When people were finally permitted to leave their homes, many rushed to grocery stores, only to find them stripped bare—from paper goods and canned provisions to fresh produce. Once bustling aisles became barren landscapes. As I walked through one of these stores, the near-empty shelves revealed not just a shortage of goods, but a stark reminder of how profoundly life had changed.
