The Throat of Images unfolds as a contemporary allegory in three movements—gaze, devouring, and civilization. Sequenced in a rhythm of “cold → warm → cold,” the series functions like a visual symphony that confronts viewers with questions of power, fragility, and modernity. The Eye of Space transforms a spiral staircase into a monumental eye, echoing Michel Foucault’s notion of the Panopticon: in the digital age, surveillance is no longer external but internalized, shaping daily life and even existence itself. Into the Throat of the Bloom disrupts the monochrome austerity with a vivid fish swimming into a flower’s throat, symbolizing both birth and disappearance, resonating with Zygmunt Bauman’s Liquid Modernity, where life and identity remain fragile and uncertain. Finally, Throat of the Structure presents massive metallic wings that engulf a solitary figure, invoking Marx and Simmel’s concept of Alienation, where civilization both shelters and consumes the individual. This work is not mere abstraction, but a fable of our cultural condition. It poses a pressing question: in an age of surveillance, fluidity, and monumental power, can humanity still find its place?
