Havana Driver on the Seawall Boulevard

On a sweltering Sunday morning, I walked down to the seawall boulevard where drivers of classic American 1950s cars park and wait for riders. I waited and waited until I was able to capture this image, which to me is almost quintessential Havana. The driver in his wide sombrero hat, the 1954 Chevrolet Convertible, and the Cuban Capitol in the hazy background tie it all together. It was a grey morning, so I reluctantly chose a more interesting sky replacement for the bright early morning. Because I was shooting into the sun, the driver was almost a complete silhouette; it took a good bit of post-processing to increase the exposure and decrease the shadows to reveal the driver’s bemusement at the photographer!
