From the Series "Looking Up"

Trees have always held a deep and lasting fascination for Don Hooper, who consistently seeks opportunities to photograph them, whether as solitary specimens or in captivating groups. He is constantly on the lookout for particular trees that capture his interest and imagination while wandering outdoors, regardless of whether he has camera in hand or not. On these particular occasions, he had been observing clusters of trees from the ground, looking upward through their dense canopy to the intricate network of branches high above. During the meticulous processing stage, he begins by converting the image into his preferred medium of Black and White. From there, he applies his unique artistic license to craft an image in his unmistakable signature style—one that mimics the elegant appearance of silhouettes, rendered in a highly contrasted, minimalistic, and atmospheric manner that evokes a strong emotional response.
