In the Yukon, porcupines emerge from the forest in May, late in the evening, to feed on herbs along the roadside. Because darkness never truly falls at this time of year, I was able to capture a portrait in natural light. For a brief moment, the porcupine paused its meal and looked directly into the camera – as if it had agreed to sit for this portrait.
