People call Times Square in Manhattan "the crossroads of the world" or, more modestly, "the center of the universe." People sometimes call it "the heart of the Great White Way" in a more lyrical way. And who doesn't know about the New Year's Eve parties that happen here every year? These names for Times Square didn't just appear out of nowhere. When you walk through it, you can sense the immense energy in the air. The sounds of automobiles, people walking, musicians on the side of the road, and protests nearby might make your head spin.
