Entering this cathedral just before service, I was struck less by the ornamentation than by the way light and vaults conversed. The photograph seeks to render that conversation — the ribbed arches and clustered columns form a repeating cadence that leads the eye toward the altar, while warm interior light sculpts the stone into layers of memory. I chose a vertical frame to emphasize the ascent of the vaults and waited for a moment when artificial and stained-glass light balanced, revealing both texture and depth.
