Yellow Watermelon Summer

Yellow Watermelon Summer was made during a hot afternoon when our whole family gathered at my parents’ home. My father, who is the grandfather of the boy in these photos, stood in the kitchen cutting sweet yellow watermelon for everyone. The way he watched his grandson — with quiet, patient eyes full of love — stayed with me. I photographed mostly from the children’s side of the table. My nephew eats with such focus and joy that the world around him seems to fade: his small hands gripping each slice, juice on his lips, and laughter shared with his older sister beside him. The adults are present but soft in the background, like a warm frame around the scene. This series is a simple record of three generations sharing fruit in summer, but for me it is also a portrait of how love is passed on in ordinary moments: a grandfather cutting, a family gathering, and a child eating something that tastes sweeter because it was prepared for him.
