SHAMELESS AND NAKED, IN THE DEVIL'S KITCHEN

"Shameless and naked, in the devil's kitchen" is a tribute to César Manrique, spanish painter (100 yrs anniversary). César Manrique has been a key figure in the development of Lanzarote (Canary Islands) for the last half century, making the island an example of sustainable care for natural resources, architecture and urbanism - regulation of high-rise buildings, restrictions on billboards, regulation of leisure facilities, etc .. These days, everyone is talking about sustainable development and saving the planet, but look at what Manrique did for his island and how he lived his life 50 years ago. Ever since my first meeting with Lanzarote in 2011, I have been absolutely captivated by the island and especially by his work. I do not replicate it, but I try to look at the island through his eyes. Photography is not a painting, but it is also not just a document. I was inspired by his works and thinking - painting, architecture, sculptures, wind toys… Manrique´s connection with nature and Mother Earth was unique and very inspiring. I hope he would look at my work with kind understanding.
