A moth visited my patio one morning. I made a photograph of it first and later a tri color gum dichromate print. I chose a butter yellow pigment as the sun's rays to accentuate the moth's energy. I work in alternative process photography and wanted to make the moth appear as a spiritual vision, a special encounter based on the random and unique. Making a tri color gum print is time consuming and reliant on the right chemistry and pigment not unlike nature's ability to allow this moth to fly according to its own alchemy, wings, body, antenna for survival. My images reflect a calm in a world of dizzying emotion. A time to focus on how to make a connection to myself and the world, small as I choose it to be ensures moments of happiness for me. It adds up to time spent in something special and good and a pretty work of art that is nature.
