Hold Onto The Night

8 Spruce Street, designed by Frank Gehry, is one of lower Manhattan's modern architectural gems. I spent hours on the rooftop admiring the the abstract shape of this building from above while the view vanished into the clouds. For just a brief moment in time, the fog broke exposing nothing except myself and the World Trade Center complex. A moment I would hold onto forever. "Hold Onto The Night" is a self portrait from my upcoming project, "Visitors - A City Unseen". "Visitors" is an ongoing curation of images extensively documenting both, the secretive culture of urban exploration and New York City's restricted views over a 10 year timespan. In order to properly document such a culture, I had to be immersed in it. I had to give my life to the culture of exploring the unseen. Countless sleepless nights, close calls, life threatening climbs, encounters with NYPD, and overwhelming feelings of conquering the "impossible" have gone into this project in the pursuit of pure creative freedom.
