This is Amami Oshima, Japan. Humpback whale mothers come to give birth from January to March every year. And when the baby whale learns to swim, the parent and child go on a journey to the ocean. And a year later, I'm back here. Humpback whale calves leave their parents after about a year. This child has also grown strong in the past year and came back. And it's time to say goodbye to my mother. The light of the sun gently envelops such parent and child whales. Say goodbye and go on your own journey. Feeling such sadness and hope, I was absorbed in releasing the shutter.
