My work destigmatizes death and grief by getting us more comfortable with our own mortality. "Wings Will Always Try to Fly" uses a dead bird wing that I found, attaching it to my own skin in this self-portrait. It signifies a willingness to fly even when life feels dark and heavy. The painters cloth and stool are a signal to myself as the creator, and to the creator in us all.
