The Thames Barrier, London, England. This amazing architectural structure on the Thames River in London, protects the area from flooding, which has been an issue since Roman times. Designed by Charles Draper In 1969, the novel rotating cylinders were based on the design of the taps on his gas cooker at his parents house!
