The Eltz Castle from the 12th century is certainly one of the most beautiful and best-known castles in Germany. A special feature is that the hilltop castle is not on a mountain but in a side valley of the Moselle valley. Typical of the area is the reddish slate, which contrasts nicely with the green of the plants and the blue sky.
