Guilherme Tamega’s (GT) wave was from a wooly session. There was a mix of surfers and body boarders that day but, because of a vertical sand berm on the beach creating lethal backwash, not many. I had one of my hardest swims out, and if I turned around I would have been swept down the beach. The best ride by far was GT’s wave. As he took off an 8’ wall of backwash met the wave and the timing of the impact created that unreal flare.
