This is the underwater discharge outlet of the fourth nuclear power plant, which was constructed by the Taiwanese government at a cost of 300 billion NT dollars. In 2021, due to heightened safety concerns about nuclear power among the Taiwanese people, a nationwide referendum did not approve the operation of this nuclear power plant. Consequently, the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant was permanently shut down, and the abandoned discharge outlet has since transformed into a picturesque underwater diving destination, fondly known as the 'Chapel' by divers.
