Ascending Serenity

In the right light even the most mundane place emits magic. I had the idea of this image in my mind for quite some time, driving past the log stack every day on my way to drop the kids off at school. My intention was to take a photo with a smaller dog, in a more traditional manner with a sitting pose, but since I hade no dog in the imagined size available I finally stopped on our way home from school one day. Since I had both camera and my azawakh girl Soleil with me I asked her to hold the pose for a few seconds while I took the photo. She willingly did so, since she's a true star at parkour, jumping up on anything and everything for the last 9,5 years of walks in exchange for a treat or some praise. Already in the camera I saw that the image I had imagined had become something more that I had hoped for; a moment of clean stillness in the busy and messy everyday life, something more than a posing dog on a log stack while my happy and loud kids waved at me from the parked car. The image made me linger in the moment.
