Painted Pack

Wild dogs, otherwise known as Painted Dogs or Wolves are one of the most successful hunters on Earth. This is largely because of their hunting technique. They can be explained as "endurance hunters", meaning that they basically run their prey to exhaustion. Personally, Wild Dogs are one of my absolute favourite animals to spend time with. No matter the time of day, some members of the pack will always be active. What I like about this particular image is that it just screams Wild Dog. The foreground is an individual running sideways. The dogs on the right in the background make a nice composition with the dog in focus relative to the borders of the image. On Erindi Private Game Reserve, we are fortunate to have an estimated 1% of the global population. They have become very habituated to the vehicles, which allow for great photographic opportunities.
