Aleppo is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and ruled successively by the Hittites, Assyrians, Arabs, Mongols, Mamelukes and Ottomans. (Quotation)Then, what kind of cityscape in Aleppo do you expect ? Non-urban scene ? Lots of historical buildings ?The first thing that our tour guide wanted to do was to show us a beautiful sunset spot in Aleppo. The funny fact is the direction of sun was behind us :D So this picture of the cityscape is in the west direction and the sunset was actually happening behind us. It was probably a new moon night or the air quality wasn't good, I didn't even find a moon in the sky. Said that, the city line is impressive. It is very different from where I reside. There is no skyscraper. Crowded low-rise buildings that look like building blocks. Residential Density. Social overload. Is it a monochromatic color scheme in Aleppo ? All buildings have a very similar color and no building stands out except the mosque and Citadel in the background. I can't stop thinking about how people live in those apartments; reading the newspaper on the patio every morning, chatting on the street, hanging laundry on the wall... People live in those buildings for real. Aleppo went through a hard time for a long time but the city view is very serene.
