In ‘Silent Seas’ I present a series of elegant and mindful images taken across the British Isles and Eire between 2022 and 2024. I hope these images will resonate with viewers in a meditative sense, and enable them to enjoy a momentary escape from the pressures and pace of modern life as they consider the gentle abstraction of the image. My inspiration for the visual language of these shots is Sumi-e (Japanese Ink Painting), both in the medium, and the meditative nature of both process and output. This formed a new paradigm for my sense of tonality, and a framework for my choice of subject and composition.
