In the past, the Bedouins would tell each other stories from 1001 Nights around the fire in the evening, either from memory or from books. Nowadays, stories are more likely to be told on cell phones. Even in the desert, cell phone reception is excellent. During a vacation with hikes through Wadi Rum in Jordan, I was able to take this beautiful picture. The Bedouin is lying comfortably by the fire in a typical Bedouin tent, smoking a water pipe and reading a story on his cell phone. Next to the fire is a tray with glasses for hot tea for the guests.
