1. Can you introduce yourself and talk about how you got into photography?

My name is Tanumoy Das and by profession I am a software engineer. Traveling is one of my hobbies. From an early age, I was interested in my father's camera and going through our family photo album was one of my pastimes. During my first visit to Darjeeling at the age of 8, I witnessed the mesmerizing sunrise over Mt Kanchenjungha and actually wanted to carry the moments with me, which later interested me to capture the moments with the lens. That's how I got into photography.

2. What do you hope to achieve?

Photography is a powerful medium for storytelling. My goal is to capture moments and share them with viewers and also carry the moment with me.

3. What compliment inspired/touched you the most?

As a photographer, any recognition from photography awards inspires and motivates me a lot.

I was inspired by Dr. Abdul Kalam's famous quote: "If you fail, never give up because failure is your first attempt at learning."

4. What inspires your unique storytelling?

I like to portray the skyline of cities in different lighting conditions of the day.

5. Congratulations! As the winner of the New York Photography Awards, what does it mean for you and your team to receive this distinction?

I extend my deepest gratitude to the New York Photography Awards for this incredible honor.

In another photo, I captured fireworks on Independence Day over the Hudson River. The New York Photography Awards is such an internationally recognized platform that I thought it would help me showcase my art to the world.

It will definitely inspire and increase my dedication to photography.
