I'm Ru Fang Dong, a visual designer who harnesses the power of diverse artistic elements to craft stunning and impactful experiences. My photography background serves as a vital foundation, fueling my creativity and allowing me to excel in capturing the essence of visual storytelling.
2. Where did you study photography?
The Internet was my classroom for photography, and I eagerly applied the lessons I learned in every shot I took.
3. Do you remember your first shot? What was it?
A single shutter click sparked a wildfire in my soul – a passion for photography! Even through the haze of beginner mistakes, it guided me on a relentless quest for knowledge, devouring photography and technology until I mastered the art of capturing stunning images.
4. What do you hope to achieve?
Through photography, I aim to explore diverse creative routes.
5. What compliment inspired/touched you the most?
For me, affirmations are like magic compliments that fuel my inner photographer. They spark confidence, creativity, and passion for my craft.

The unique beauty of my surroundings inspires me to photograph it, creating work that reflects that specialness.

Receiving the honor of winning both the Events and Culture categories at the New York Photography Awards for my "Sacred and Fearless" series fills me with immense pride. This recognition is a powerful affirmation of my talent, creativity, and unwavering dedication as a photographer.
8. Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2023 New York Photography Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?
As I entered the world of photography, I discovered not just rewards, but a valuable mirror reflecting my current position. While prizes are tempting, the real treasure lies in the journey of artistic growth. Every competition, win or lose, becomes a stepping stone, paving the way for my creative evolution. Through this experience, I also hope to expose Taiwan's captivating landscapes and cultural tapestry to the world.
9. How has winning an award developed your career?
Taking part in an international photography competition might not reveal its full effect on my growth instantly. Like a slow-flowing flower, the benefits may blossom over time, making the wait all the more worthwhile. I can't wait to see this transformation!
10. What was the best piece of advice you were given starting out, by a mentor or your role model?
Snapshots of what's in sight, what resonates in the core, never forget your passion when shooting snaps! Mixing sight and soul keeps your photos not just eye-candy, but emotionally gripping too. This helps foster a unique style that showcases your artistic persona.
11. What advice would you give someone who would like to become a photographer today?
Follow your photographic heart, shoot what ignites your passion, and let authenticity flow into your images. You'll not only fuel your artistic journey but share something truly inspiring with the world. Because photography, at its core, is a personal adventure, and passion is the key to unlocking your full potential.

I believe photographing the world with both my eyes and my heart allowed me to truly connect with my subjects, fostering a harmonious blend of technical expertise and artistic vision.

Instead of aiming for immediate mastery in photography, embracing its journey as a continuous learning experience allows us to evolve and unlock new creative passions. This open-minded approach keeps our creative spirit alive and fuels our growth as photographers.
