Photographer's Profile
Belgium
Benoit Rondelet is an amateur photographer, a witness to nature and humanity. He has always been passionate about living things, but his full commitment as a Professor of Surgery and Lung Transplant Specialist left him with little time to fully devote himself to this goal. The COVID-19 period as Medical Director of the UCL Namur University Hospital Group in Belgium forced him to explore new perspectives to give meaning to his existence. His photographs do not simply capture moments; they seek to open windows onto the fragile splendor of wild territories and extend a bridge to the souls of the people who inhabit them. This invitation seems to stem from a deep faith, where spiritual metaphysics, a moral imperative, scientific knowledge, and aesthetic sensitivity converge. He believes that what binds Man to Nature lies in the belief that it constitutes not only an ordered structure but also the Idea of a totality that we have the duty to respect, whether it is designated under the name of Nature, Being or Creation. Photography is for him much more than a means of capturing images, it offers me an intimate link with the soul of the world.
