Photographer's Profile
Canada
Yvan Bédard in an Emeritus Professor in engineering, an international author/speaker and recipient of several scientific awards. He now works in fine art landscape photography and, he has received over fifty international awards. Self-taught, completed by workshops in Canada, USA and UK, his art is influenced by his scientific knowledge. He perceives details and abstractions, sharpness and ambiguity, as well as temporality in everything he observes. His landscapes are intimate or grand vistas, his scenes are manifest or mysterious. Trees and rock inspire him as symbols of one’s lifetime and of the eternity. His work is slow and thorough, mindful, and skilled. Aesthetics, emotion, and imagination take precedence over documentary reproduction. He highlights what he perceives or imagines, without metamorphosing nature. Through visual poetry, he raises human awareness of the benefit of nature and offers a respite in this era of ecoanxiety. In his studio, he transforms the pixels of his photographs into pigments on carefully chosen fine art papers and canvas. In art galleries since 2014 (Canada, USA, UK, Australia, Germany, Hungary, India), his work is found in several countries and published in media worldwide. His photographs can also be found in public collections.
