Wings Over Concrete is a photographic exploration of the hidden relationship between birds and the urban world. Cities are often seen as places of steel, glass, and stone, designed only for human movement. Yet above these rigid structures another story unfolds. Birds continue to trace their own paths across the sky, weaving shapes of survival and resilience that are invisible to the hurried eye. The project uses long-exposure photography to reveal these unseen flight patterns. By layering time into a single frame, the images capture more than a passing moment. They transform motion into form and rhythm into design. What might look like chaos at first glance becomes a choreography of wings that turns ordinary skylines into living canvases. The work began from a simple curiosity about how flight might look if followed for more than a second. The photographs revealed shapes that felt familiar and yet unexpected. Murmurations of starlings appeared as abstract sculptures suspended in the air. A seagull cutting through rows of doves resembled a performer stepping out onto a stage. Doves circling above high raise buildings created spirals that looked like snakes moving in air. Each image blurred the line between documentation and poetry, offering a glimpse of nature’s quiet persistence in places never designed for it. At its heart, Wings Over Concrete is about attention. Birds are often dismissed as background to daily life, but they are more than fleeting silhouettes. They are indicators of the health of our environment, and their presence or absence tells us stories about the balance of the ecosystems we share. The ability of these species to adapt and thrive amidst noise, light, and architecture is both remarkable and humbling.
