Beyond the Patterns is a work born from the desire to reflect on identity and the perception of diversity, two themes that remain central in contemporary society. The photograph portrays a female figure without hair, reproduced in a kind of mirrored double portrait, where light and color define two distinct yet complementary perspectives. The face, delicate and at the same time resolute, suggests the possibility of looking at oneself and at the world through different gazes: one more intimate, introspective, and silent; the other more open, vulnerable, and willing to challenge conventions. In this play of reflections there is no absolute truth, but rather the awareness that every identity carries multiple nuances, interpretations, and possibilities of meaning. The work invites the viewer to question how we perceive what does not fit into predetermined frameworks, and how often diversity is interpreted as exclusion when, in reality, it can embody freedom, originality, and courage. The figure portrayed is not an “other” in opposition to us, but rather a fragment that belongs to each of us: the part that struggles to find a place within social expectations, yet holds the strength to break boundaries and open new perspectives. The title “Beyond the Patterns” underlines this very tension: the desire to overcome labels, judgments, and imposed expectations in order to access a more authentic level of experience. This is not just a portrait, but an invitation to look at everyday life from a different angle, to discover in the unconventional the potential for a new personal and collective narrative. Through its clean and incisive visual language, the work becomes a bridge between aesthetics and psychological introspection: an image that does not merely represent but instead activates a process of reflection and recognition in the viewer. “Beyond the Patterns” is therefore a journey both inward and outward, an ode to the plurality of identities and to the value of difference — not as a limitation, but as a profound resource.
