I have visited many abandoned villages in Rhodope Mountains in Bulgaria. The villages are very remote, and in them live between 1 and 10 people. The villages are located in very beautiful areas. The access to the villages is not easy especially the last 5-10km. I wanted to answer myself why these people continue to live in these areas, when they simply are disconnected from the civilization. Without any shops, doctors and transport these people most of who are over 85 years old, want to die where they have spent the most of their lives. They are 'Тhe last Lords of Rhodope Mountains'.
