A journey through the soul of the Berber nomads The men of Morocco's yellow desert A photographic project born from my various travels to Morocco, a wonderful land steeped in history, culture, and tradition. Its ancient Berber ethnic group has shaped a significant part of the life of North Africa, known as the Maghreb. The Berbers of Morocco, a nomadic people living on the edge of the sandy desert, like to call themselves "Amazigh," which in the Berber language means "Free Men" due to their independent and solitary lifestyle. A lifestyle based on constant movement based on weather conditions and the presence of water, the desert Berbers are known for their friendliness and welcoming attitude toward strangers, demonstrated by the invitation to their tents (their home) to taste Berber mint tea while recounting ancient tales. In this photographic project, I wanted to capture the lifestyle of the nomadic families still remaining today, who have preferred to carry on their customs and traditions of independence, choosing to live in solitude, albeit difficult, far from modern influences.
