This project captures the fleeting sculptural forms created by the turbulent waves of the Sea of Japan. For me, the ocean is not merely a landscape but a living entity—an ever-shifting force shaped by wind, gravity, light, and the invisible tensions within the water itself. I return to the same coastline day after day, studying tides, weather patterns, wind direction, and atmospheric conditions to anticipate the rare moments when the sea gives birth to extraordinary shapes. Each photograph in this series represents a unique instant when chaos transforms into form: a wave rising like an emerging creature, spray turning into a delicate architecture of light, foam scattering like fragments of stardust, or the ocean suddenly falling back into silence after a violent surge. These images depict not only the physical structure of the waves but also the emotional rhythm of the sea—the tension between destruction and creation, violence and serenity, eruption and dissolution. My intention is to present the ocean as a mythic presence, one that reveals countless expressions within the span of a heartbeat. Through this series, I hope to invite viewers into the intimate, volatile world hidden inside the waves—a world that exists for only a fraction of a second, yet holds the timeless power of nature’s ancient memory. Ephemeral Creations of the Sea celebrates the beauty that arises from impermanence, and the silent stories that vanish the moment the sea collapses back into itself.
