2021 is the year of the seven hundredth anniversary of Dante Alighieri's death in Ravenna, on the night of September 13-14, 1321. This autumn, between the end of September and the first days of December, I wanted to tell the story in my own way, with the fog inversion at the first light of dawn just to create a series of 8 emotional images in memory of the Supreme Poet. The Castle of Poppi (13th century) is known as "Dante's castle". Dante, an exile from Florence, stayed there in 1310 as a guest of the Counts Guidi, a powerful Tuscan family of the time, and composed the famous Canto XXXIII of the Inferno, dedicated to traitors and Count Ugolino. The Castle of Poppi, built by the famous family of architects Di Cambio, is considered the prototype of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. A castle among the best preserved in Italy with inside ten beautiful rooms, all open to visitors, in addition to the high tower from which you can admire the spectacle of the most typical Tuscan countryside. Among the interiors of the castle, to highlight, the chapel frescoed by Taddeo Gaddi, the first pupil of Giotto and the Library Rilliana, rich in over 25,000 ancient volumes including illuminated manuscripts, incunabula, medieval and Renaissance manuscripts. A real attraction for the public of all ages located on the Piano Nobile of the castle, the magnificent model of the Battle of Campaldino, a faithful historical reconstruction of the famous clash between Guelphs and Ghibellines.
