Following a cesarean, the uterus is sometimes temporarily removed from the abdomen (uterine exteriorization) in order to improve visualization during the closure of the incision. In this image, you can also see the patients left fallopian tube and ovary. Once the uterine incision is closed, the uterus is placed back inside the abdominal cavity, and the abdominal wall and skin incision are closed.
