Mount Bromo is one of the most incredible volcanoes in the world and very popular even among local people. It lies in the middle of a huge crater called the ‘Sea of Sand’. I spent 2 mornings, hoping for a great sunrise. The first morning was honestly OK but the second one was breath-taking. I really appreciated my plan to stay there for 2 nights, rather than 1 night. (Tourists usually stay overnight 1 night only) Mount Bromo and other volcanoes are wrapped with fog and the carpet of clouds filled out the base of the volcanoes, the so-called "Sea of Sand". You can actually walk around the sea of sand but no one would do it during sunrise timing. That is where you usually go down after sunrise. The color of the sunrise was beaming the sky and the volcanoes. The sunrise views over the entire area are simply incredible. The shot was taken from the best and most popular viewpoint where lots of people wait for sunrise. I have to admit that it is really the best viewpoint. I was waiting for sunrise at a different spot on Day1. Can you spot volcanic smog rising from 2 of the active volcanoes? Smoke occurs every 10 minutes or so from the background one. You have to remember that they are active volcanoes. It is beyond expression. It was like I was seeing a gigantic oil painting in front of me.
