Photographer's Profile
Emmanuel Gimeno, France
Born in 1968, French artist Emmanuel Gimeno has been carving a unique path in contemporary art for more than three decades. Graduating from the École des Beaux-Arts in 1990, he began his career as an assistant to several renowned photographers, gaining valuable experience and insights into the world of image-making. This apprenticeship shaped a personal practice characterized by exploratory techniques: image sequences, fragmented negatives, and multiple exposures. His recent work, blending photography, installations, painting and writing, creates a captivating dialogue between image and material. Beyond his artistic career, Gimeno has left his mark on fashion and lifestyle imagery, with publications in Harper’s Bazaar, Spoon Magazine, and many others. After holding Senior Creative Director roles across Europe, Asia, and the United States, he chose in 2023 to devote himself exclusively to his personal work, continuing an exploration at the intersection of photography and other narrative forms.
