"Portraits"

Portraits is a collection of carefully conceived studio works, part of a broader project that also includes street portraits. Despite the different contexts, all images share the same approach: the search for a pose, often developed with the sitter, and the use of deliberate lighting, frequently with flash. Started in 2022 and still ongoing, the project reflects my interest in humanity as a whole and my resistance to rigid photographic categories. My aim is to unite very different individuals through a common gaze and aesthetic. I want to photograph a young model in the same way I photograph a prostitute or a person with disabilities—without hierarchy or prejudice—placing dignity and individuality at the center. Over time I realized that my photography is primarily rooted in portraiture. My commitment to working with human beings also stems from my parallel passion for acting. Since 2019, I have studied theatrical acting, spending two summers in Manhattan at HB Studio under the guidance of Lorraine Serabian. What attracts me most to portraiture is the possibility, each time, to reveal the dignity of the subject. Every successful portrait is an opportunity to let down one’s guard and connect with the beauty that lies above all in variety and diversity.
