Staten Island on a cold autumn morning at sunrise

The glorious New York skyline receding gracefully on a spectral skyline whilst on the Staten Island Ferry. The weather had turned at the flick of a switch, the previous week being balmy autumn / late summer days with t-shirts and smiling faces. All of a sudden the sunny days were changing and this turned out to be the last great morning of the autumn it seemed. Most people were chins down, wooly hats dragged down and hands in pockets. I, on the other hand, couldn't believe my luck. Seagulls joined me as they chased the stern of the ferry looking for breakfast whilst all the other passengers sensibly stayed inside, except the crazy smiling photographer snapping away, rubbing his increasingly white and numb hands to allow buttons to be pressed, dials to be turned and prevent the camera from falling overboard.
