The Mount Hagen Cultural Show was reportedly first staged in the 1950's, before PNG's Independence, by the first European settlers in the Highlands to encourage enemies of different clans to gather to reconcile group animosities but since then the show has become one of Papua New Guinea's most important tribal events as well as Goroka show. It offers an incredible opportunity for you to discover the tribal diversity of this country. I had the amazing opportunity as a tourist to witness the fabulous sight of thousands of painted warriors dancing, and singing, to the beat of local drums including mud men. This shot would be my favorite shot among all the pictures I took during the annual Mount Hagen Festival. The man in the center looks "I am so ready, look at me !". I can feel the strong vibe from him. I can't remember if there were women from this tribe with similar costumes. Their costume could have been rather simple compared to others as they didn't even wear make-up, but it wouldn't have been flaw at all. "Being a masculine" would be another title of this picture.
