A pride of nine lions approached a herd of about 150 buffalo, and the large male lion quickly despatched a young buffalo calf, but it was in tall grass, making it impossible to document. However, one or two old buffalo bulls turned up to try and help the calf, and attempted to flush the large male lion out, when three younger sub-adult lions of about two years old started to close in on one of the old bulls. In this image, the tables were suddenly turned, as the buffalo became the hunter, and the lion had to take urgent, evasive action.
